Abstract EN

Mahmoud Baroudi's poem "Samira's Specter" embodies a model of spatial and then psychological estrangement resulting from the poet's exile from Egypt to Serendib island after he was a minister of defense and a prime minister for Al kadiwi Tawfiq, which shows how the causes and factors of estrangement were available for him.

This article aims at analyzing the aspects of estrangement in the aforementioned poem.

Examination shows that estrangement has many manifestations or levels like escaping to the specter, escaping to the past, and escaping to the remote future, … etc.
