Abstract EN

The significance of our study of the sources of Arab heritage is certainly of great help for the assertion of the originaiety of Islamic-Arab culture.

It flourished in the past and was the source that supplied Europe with Science and Arts and contributed to its prosperity and progress.

Orientalists have always been aware of the importance of studying this heritage, and how it helped in making modern civilization.

They have edited a great number of Islamic manuscripts.

International conferences have been held, since the 19th century, to discuss and publish studies on Islamic History and Civilisation.

The Encyclopedia of Islam have also been issued in different languages.

In the west, the European scholars were the first who realized the significance and importance of Islamic heritage.

In this century, American scholars are interested in studying Islamic history, especially modern Islamic culture.

They are trying to find out the traces of the past Islamic heritage on the life and thought of modern Islamic and Arab Nations.

The Arabs in the Middle Ages have proved that Arabic - the language of the Coran- is a scientific language for it is used in the various fields of science and arts.

The first time the idea of Arab Unity Was discussed was in 1933 in the League of National Labor conference.

Discussion over the subject matter took place and included Muslim Brotherhood and the Syrian Nationalist Party.

This resulted; however, into ideological choos : some parties called for independent state existence, Muslim brothers called for Islamic unity, and the Syrian nationalist party called for Syrian Nationalism.

The situation remained as such until the Arab League came into existence, shortly after the Woiid War II, and fulfilled the idea of Arab Unity, some time later; however, more discussions were aroused by the Arabic Socialist Beath leaders, who adepted the idea of Arab Unity on an Arab World scale.

This party viewed the Arab League as a state organizations and therefore emphasised disunity and not the reverse.

The birth of the 1952 Revolution was welcomed by many arabs, who thought that it will fulfill Arab Unity.

During this period the Arab League established an Arabic Studies.

Institute; the objective of which is teaching Arab Unity on scientific basis and avoiding any political slogans.

This movement was followed by the birth of U.A.R., the Heshimite United States and the United Arab Republics, in which neither of them achieved its goal of unity.

All this didn’t seem to convince those beliving in Arab Unity to limit their dreams to Arab Consolidation.

According to those, the Arab Unity will not be fulfilled except on the bases of a single Arab Movement with a revolutionary theory, in which all Arab States are united and their political boundaries fit exactly the national boundaries of the Arab World.
