The electrical conductivity and thermoelectric power have been studied for the spinel magnetic compound NiCr2O4 in the temperature range 300 to 550 K.
This compound has been prepared using the solid state reaction method.
The electrical conductivity shows semiconducting behaviors with typical value (10-6 -1 cm-1) at 400 K.
Calculation of the activation energy resulted in two values 0.25 and 0.29 eV.
The thermoelectric power decreases with increasing temperature and it shows very clear anomaly at about 315 K.
These noticeable changes have been attributed to structural phase transformation from the cubic to tetragonal structure, which have been attributed to the Jahn-Teller cooperative effects.

La conductivité électrique et la puissance thermo-électrique ont été étudiées pour le composé magnétique spinel NiCr2O4 dans la gamme de température 300-550 K.
Ce composé a été préparé par la méthode de la réaction à l'état solide.
La conductivité électrique montre un comportement supraconducteur avec une valeur typique égale à 10-6 -1 cm-1 à 400 K.
le calcul de l'énergie d'activation conduit à deux valeurs : 0,25 et 0,29 eV.
La puissance thermoélectrique décroît quand la température augmente et montre une anomalie très claire aux environ de 315 K.
Les variations notables ont été attribuées à la transformation structurale de phase du cubique au tétragonal, et qui est attribuée aux effets de Jahn-Teller.
