Abstract EN

The main objective of this study was to revisit the contents of flow of wealth theory of John Caldwell and its pillars and drives from different perspectives.

Although childbearing is a biological process, it is determined by cultural and socioeconomic factors.

This study is basically an attempt to reread the theoretical theses of the conventional theory of flow of wealth paths between parents and their children in a way to reconsider the socioeconomic aspects within those theses which stipulate that the cost of children is the basic element in determining the demand for children.

When the cost of children is low, the desire for having children is high.

Once the benefits from children decline and their costs go up the directions of flow of wealth change to be from parents to children instead of children to parents and consequently the demand for children starts to decline.
