Shoot tips of “william’s” bananas plants were used as the explant materials which were treated with different concentration of either sodium hypochlorite 1% (20 min.) followed by mercuric chloride 0.2% for 5 min.
as a surface disinfectation.
Shoot tips were cultured on the M&S basal medium supplemented with lmg/L IBA, 0.5 mg/L BA, 5 mg/L 2ip.
Best results of survival percentage were obtained when shoot tips were treated and cultured on the previously mentioned media.
Additional of charcoal to the previously media (3g/L) promote adventitious root on the shoots.
