Abstract EN

The researcher aims to study the works of the storyteller, Hind Abi Alsha’ar, from an intertextual perspective.

The paper is divided into an introduction and two sections.

The introduction presents us with the definition of intertextuality, its principles and types.

Section one deals with religious and historical intertextuality.

The second section deals with literary and folkloric intertextuality - relating to myths and traditional sayings.

The researcher aims at clarifying the implied meaning in the selected texts to reveal the absent texts i.e.

the source texts in the works of Abi Alsha’ar.

This is done by referring to the original texts and showing the role these texts play in establishing meaning in her short stories, through projecting it in new aesthetic forms.

Although the study depends on a critical approach that has become famous for its potential in exploring semantic signs and cultural worlds of texts which Abi Alsha’ar has used when she perfected her literary works, the researcher uses this approach without exaggeration and avoids the claim of perfection.
