Abstract AR
Abstract EN
The French novel in the 19th century transformed from reason-based to emotion based.
This was uncovered by Stendhal’s novel and Balzac’ novels in that there was a destructive conflict between reason and emotion.
Both novelists gave the impression to their protagonists that everything is permissible as a new technique in novel-writing.
The novel characters should shoulder the conflict consequences and results such as jealousy and abhorrence.
The novelist’s protagonists became fully convinced that the conflict did not fulfill its aims owing to the fact that unbalanced emotions often lead to madness or death.
