Prose poetry is known to be the literary project that the Lebanese journal “Shia’r” adopted in the late Fifties of the Twentieth and worked for extending the prevalence of this genre of poetry among the readers.

As is well known, this project was confronted by a campaign launched by different factors for various reasons, some of which were critical while others ideological.

The present article focuses on the internal reasons, which, no less than the external ones, led to the eventual failure of both the journal and its project
