Abstract EN

The Arabic language has suffered a lot in its attempt to reflect the revolution in thought and modern technology.

However, despite all obstacles placed by “purists”, the Arabic language is slowly developing.

This research analyzes a number of phenomena and innovations in modern Arabic and offers some suggestions.

The author bases his opinions on some sources, linguistic logic and analogy, and on a number of language issues such as: the clear tendency of many authors to prefer words and structures which do not exist in “’Ammiyyah” (spoken vernacular) to others which are much easier to use, in order to create a clear difference from the dialect; the tendency of “Modernists” to abandon older, disputed versions of words for no other reason then their being labeled “old” and “archaic”; and the problems caused by tardiness in coming up with alternatives derived from the Arabic language to foreign “loan words”.

All these issues have been long familiar to the speakers of Arabic.
