Abstract EN

The Mosuli narrator (Haitham Bahnam Burda) has been chosen as a subject for this research since his short stories through his four collections (Tleebathi, Al-Wasiyya, Nahr Tho Lihyya Baithaa, Arth Min Asal) carry cohesive techniques that employed tense overlapping.

This in turn leads to numerous contrasts through which the comprehensive vision of the narrator is achieved.

So the present work has been carried out in order to study tense in these four collections in an analytic study.

It reveals the artistic values and investigates the connotations that resulted from them.

The work consists of two sections.

The introduction includes the definition of narrative tense.

The first section is devoted to study tense arrangement in terms of retrieval and anticipation.

The second section, On the other hand, studies tense acceleration in terms of brevity and ellipsis.
