The research aimed at finding the effect of modeling and picture puzzle strategy on developing the contemplative thinking for fourth-year primary female students in Islamic education subject .

To achieve the research objective , the researcher formed a major null hypothesis .

The research community included two schools in Nineveh governorate (semester 2012/2013) .

The research sample included (62) female students .

The first school ( group A) was taught the modeling strategy and the second school (group B) was taught the common method .

Both groups were intentionally selected .

The sample was divided intentionally into two research groups : the first experimental group included (32) female students taught according to the modeling strategy , and the second group ( the control group) included (30) female students was taught according to the common method .

The equivalence is performed between the two groups in ( age variable (in months) , intelligence test, the degree of half-year examination of Islamic education (semester 2012/2013) , the general average of all subjects in half-year examination (semester 2012/2013) , the academic level of the parents and pre and post-tests ( for the test of contemplative thinking ) .

The researcher herself taught the subject to the two research groups including the experimental and the control .

The researcher used a tool represented by the test of contemplative thinking in Islamic education .

The tool included (25) items distributed on the skills of contemplative thinking prepared by the researcher as : five positions each one has five skills with three choices ( prepared by the researcher ) , the differentiation power is found ,and verifying its validity , reliability and internal consistency .

After finishing teaching the subject according to the teaching plans prepared by the researcher for both groups within a complete school semester , the researcher applied the tool on the group individuals .

After collecting and analyzing the data statistically , the researcher obtained the following results : 1.

There is a statistical significant difference between the average of developing degrees of the experimental group taught with the modeling strategy and the average of developing degrees of the control group taught with the common method in the test of contemplative thinking for both pre and post tests for the benefit of the experimental group .

In the light of the previous results , the researcher presented number of recommendations and suggestion like : 1.

The teachers of Islamic education in the primary stage need to teach according to modeling and picture puzzle strategy .

2.

Joining both strategies to the teaching methods of Islamic education in college of basic education .
