This paper reviews in depth the Nati©nal Arab experience of fostering CO-operation and solidarity within the Arab World, th٧ه٢gh٧هt the last four decades.

The personal experience of the author who held the office of Secretary General of the League of Arab States for approximately eight years, portrays the various concerted endeavours to put the ideology of Arab Nationalism into practice.

The role of the League of Arab States as regards the Palestinian question was the cohesive force behind the attempt to fulfill the national aspirations of the Arab Nation.

The paper analysis in details the Arab joint action towards the Palestinian problem, confrontation of foreign defence alliances and the support of bilateral and multilateral endeavours for unity.

In this respect, the Egyptian -Syrian unity has been assessed.

The paper deals also with the Arab Summit conferences, with special stress on the!r positive role in alleviating dangers to national security during times of crises.
