The paper is a reflection on the different dimensions of the phe- nomena of media penetration in the Arab world.
In its first part, the different forms of media penetration are demonstrated.
These forms include: News agencies, television networks, imported drama, satte- lites, penetration from inside (embassies and information bureaux), self penetration (through Arab intelligensia and Arab media) and the Middle East television network.
Next is an argument about the nature of this penetration and the relation between midea penetration and me- dia interaction.
In its conclusion, focused on the protection of the Arab cultural identity, the paper calls for a more emperical approach to re- place the philosophiocal approach in studying the phenomena, for a more thorough discussion of the role of the political authority and its intellignesia and for a clear diffinition of the cultural identity.
Certain guidelines for the protections of cultural identity are presented.
