Abstract EN

Efforts to develop the industrial sector in Kuwait have been trans- lated into horizental and vertical development of the industrial base.

Several industrial areas as Sha'bia, Sabhan and Ahmadi were esta- blished and provided with the needed infrastructure.

This development led to an increasment of the levels of pollution in the country.

The paper aims at evaluating the environmental conditions of Ku- wait and defining the new variables intruduced as a result of the indus- trial development.

In addition, the paper studies the levels of concen- tration of certain sources of pollution and the natural and human factors affecting it in an attempt to point out better methods to control the environmental effects of the economic development and of the in- creasment of the pollutions with the changes in life style accompaning it.

The paper explores: The pollution of air, dust pollution, pollution resulting from sewage problems and acuatic pollution.

In its final sec- tor, the environmental effects of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait are elu- cidated.
