The paper is an attempt to study the major economic problems and imbalances in the Yemen economy since the establishment of the Yemen union inmayl990 and thereasons behind them, thus the paper is divided into two parts : The 1st part of the study titled ”The major features of the Yemen economy" under which the researcher discusses three issues : The economic problems and lastly the economic reform program in Yemen.

The 2س part of the paper titled ”The challenges that face the Yemen economyinthe21 century and confrontingit” deals with the internal and external challenges that face the economy and how to deal with them.
