Elements of poetic composition in Abd al Wahab Al Bayati's collection of poems (Qamar shiraz- moon of shiraz).

The present paper examines the artistic aspects seen in the composition of Abd Alwahab al Bayati's poetry.

As a pioneer in the Arabic contemporary poetry renovation movement, Al Bayati, along with Nazek Al Malaeka and Badr Shakir Al Seyab, has been among the first contributors to the establishment of the free verse in Arabic poetry.

The study has investigated the artistic aspects in Al Bayati's collection of poems (Qamar shiraz- moon of shiraz), as this collection represents a turning point in his poetic career and well represents the investigated artistic aspects.

The poems also show a Sufi trend that can be easily identified throughout the poetic lines reflecting the poet's great Sufi love and view to life.

Among the aspects explored by this study is the image characterized by ideological and psychological depth, serious language inlaid with Sufi references and symbols, mysterious implications that warp up many images and implications in the poems and the wellcomposed veil for the poet to hide behind.
