Abstract EN

This study aims at identifying the attitudes of the seventieth Jordanian parliament members towards parliamentary governments as it is so vital from a political and democratic perspective.

The study was divided into two sections, the first section comprises the theoretical framework of the terms employed .It also tackled the foundations of the parliamentary system, the nature and notions of parliamentary government, its applications and characteristics, exploration of parliamentary governments in the Jordanian arena.

The researchers employed both the descriptive and systematic approaches in the theoretical framework.

The second section comprises the analysis of the study questions and the questionnaire in light of the statistical approach in order to measure the parliament's member's attitudes regarding parliamentary governments.

The questionnaire was distributed among 225 members of the Jordanian parliament.

The researcher received 109 samples and he ignored (8) as their responses were not clear.

The study concluded that the attitudes of the members of the Jordanian parliament were of the "average" type.

Their attitudes were nonintegrated.

The study also concluded that there were no statistical significant difference in their people's attitudes with respect to sex, age, place of residence, level of education, party membership, membership of civil institutions and the council that a member belongs to.

The study also showed differences of statistical significance regarding parliamentary governments due to professional variables prior to the parliamentary work, the political party and the duration of parliamentary service.

The study presented a set of recommendations including the consolidation of the democratic approach and broadening the base of political participation to contribute to the process of transformation towards parliamentary governments.
