Abstract EN

This research aims to shed light on the history of Bayir region northeast of Jafer depression and the city of Mcaan in southern Jordan during the various historical periods, starting with Paleolithic period, Bronze and Iron Ages, Greco- Roman, Byzantine, Islamic and Ottoman periods.

As well as the importance of the site in the events of the Arab Revolt up to British Mandate for East Jordan.

The research follows indications and statements about Bayir region in the Islamic sourses besides accounts of the European travellers who visited Bayir during the period between the 18th century and the beginning of the 20th century discus them in order to make an overall picture of the, history of the region.
