Abstract EN

This study deals with diseases and epidemics that occurred in Yemen during the 10th and 11th Centuries H.

/ 16th and 17th Centuries G.

the study focuses on the areas where these diseases and epidemics spread, and on the social and economical effects of these diseases and epidemics on the people.

This research also studies the means and measurements taken by the authorities in Yemen in order to stop the spread of these diseases and epidemics and their effects on the public.

This is done through studying Yemeni historical sources that were written during that period.

The most important diseases spread in Yemen during that period were Fever, Diphtheria, Leprosy, Persian fire, and semendala.

Plague was the most wide spread epidemic that Yemen suffered from.

These diseases and epidemics negatively affected the social and economical life in Yemen.

Great number of people were killed, including people who worked in agriculture and industry, severely affecting these fields.
