Abstract EN

This study initiates with an introductory highlighting the principles of the Saudi's Politics.

Then it proceeds to deliberating over a host of issues starting with the Sadat’s visit to Jerusalem in 1977; Camp David Talks, and the Saudi position towards them, and the signing of the Agreement in 1979.

The study concludes with the most obvious consequences and results such as: that the political initiative, as a policy undertaken unilaterally; puzzled Saudi Arabia.

However; when the Saudis recovered from the shock; they undertook a precautionary, and neutral position.

Saudi Arabia did not rush for offering congratulations or blesses on the initiative, neither did it make an offensive thereof.

Rather, confirming the constant stance vis-a-vis the Arab consensus issues, the Kingdom favored to wait and see.

The study confirmed further that Saudi Arabia was keen not to disconnect with the Egyptian President until the foreseeable results of the agreement to be obvious.

The Kingdom also resisted all forms of American pressures calling for full shouldering of Sadat Initiative publicly.

It is noteworthy that, under the shock, when Sadat signed Camp David Agreements; Saudi Arabia was persuaded to participate in Baghdad Conference held in 1978.

Thereafter, a new era of the Saudi politics toward Egypt was witnessed where the Kingdom,s policy shifted from the position of an arbitrator to a position of convergence with the Front of Rejection.

In the aftermath of the unilateral signing of the Agreement with Israel in 1979, boycott was consolidated insuring the Saudi State independent stance from the United States albeit the deeply-rooted interests prevailing between the two countries.
