Abstract EN

Sir Andrew Ryan occupied several diplomatic posts at the British Embassy in Istanbul during the period 1903-1921, after that he was appointed in the post of British Consul in Morocco through the years 1924-1930, then he was sent to Jeddah in 1930 to be the British Minister ^enipotentiary in Saudi Arabia and has remained in this position tili 1936.

That period 1930-1936 witnessed many important events since the announcement of the establishment of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the changing of the diplomatic representation of United Kingdom in Saudi Arabia.

Also, during that period many problems had been settled, such as the border questions between Saudi Arabia and neighboring countries : Iraq and Jordan.

Those questions were the focus of attention by United Kingdom due to its influence in those areas.

Sir Andrew Ryan left his memoirs in a book titled " The Last of the Dragomans", which includes two chapters about the years which he spent in Saudi Arabia.

This research aims to review what was written by Sir Ryan about Saudi Arabia and his ^pressions about those years in Arabia.
