Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to understand the impacts of social pressures that challenge football players of the first-class clubs in Zarqa province.

A questionnaire about social pressures designed by Oran (2007) was distributed to a sample consisting of 90 football players.

A modification has been made for the questionnaire to be in its final form.

It consisted of 50 items structured on five themes (family, management, public, team members and training).

The results of the study revealed that football players in Zarqa province are highly exposed to social pressures.

These pressures are usually associated with team management, team members, training, team fans and the family.

Furthermore, the results indicated that according to the player variables (marital status, experience and qualification) there was not any difference in the degree of social pressures.

The recommendations of the study various confirmed the need to playerrehabilitation to adapt and face varies pressures, particularly fan's club, media and team leaders.

It is important to support players to face their personal problems and thus they would be able to achieve athletic accomplishments and victories.
