Foodstuffs manufacturing industries are one of important economic activities in Saudi Arabia.

They have been developed since 1953.

By 1997, the total number of foodstuffs manufacturing industries reached 400 factories.

Since the foodstuffs manufacturing industry has been established during the past fifty years in Saudi Arabia, that it becomes necessary to study this important branch of the industry, especially that serious research in this area has been rare.

The objective of this study is to analyze the evolution of the industry together with its regional distribution pattern as well as revealing structure and characteristics.

This study shows that the history of Saudi foodstuffs industry development was divided into three periods, first (1953-1973), second (1974^1985), thiard (1986-1997).

The real development was in the second and thiard periods, when they had 90% of total foodstuffs factories.

They distributed in five main regions, but the concentrated was at westren and central regions, that they had 72% of the industry.
