Abstract EN

The relationship between solid transport variations,rainfall and runoff in the drainage basin of Oued Kebir-Rhumel (Oriental Tell- Algeria) This investigation presents quantitative evaluation of erosion in the catchment area of Wadi El Kebir-Rhumel which occupies 8815 km؛ in north eastern Algeria, specific suspended sediments (S.S.S) of this Wadi was evaluated based on the turbidity of the river discharge as majored in the Aiicer station.

We also analyzed the relationship between rainfall on the one hand drainage discharge on the other and both seasonally and annually in the period September 1, 1975 to August 31, 1985.

It was found that the relationship between runoff and suspended sediments is stronger than between the latter and rainfall during the entire study period.

In general, logarithmic correlations between rainfall and suspended sediments were superior to those using linear relationships for all time spans (monthly, seasonally and annually).

The highest linear correlation between rainfall and suspended sediments was observed in April, whereas February had the highest logarithmic correlation between rainfall and suspended sediments.
