Abstract EN

This study aimed at identifying the educational counselors' expectations of the role of the school educational counseling supervisor in the West Bank Southern Governorates.

For this purpose a questionnaire consisting of two parts was designed.

The first part consisting of 21 paragraphs centred on the relationship of the counseling supervisor with the school counselor, while the second part consisting of 16 paragraphs centred on the relationship of the counseling supervisor with the school principal.

The questionnaire which adopted a five-scale grading (strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree) was distributed amongst 115 male and female counselors in all the basic and secondary schools in which there were counselors.

Then all the returned questionnaires were statistically analyzed.

The results showed differences in the means of educational counselors' expectations of the role of the school educational counselor in the southern governorates attributed to: the gender variable in favour of males; the variable of years of experience in favour of less than three years of experience; the variable of qualification in favour of the M.A qualification; the variable of specialization in favour of educational counseling.

The recommendations of the study include assigning educational supervision to M.A holders in the specialization of educational counseling, and activating the role of the Palestinian media to highlight the roles of both the counselor and the school educational counseling supervisor
