Abstract EN

This study aims at identifying the nature of transformation in the trends of contemporary Arab critics in critiquing modern poetic texts.

It also attempts to determine the salient features of modern Arabic critical discourse and to investigate the most significant efforts to lay down the foundations for an innovative, practical, modern Arab criticism theory.

For this purpose, the study will investigate the critical theorizing attempts of the modern Arab writer and critic Adonis (Ali Ahmad Sa'eed).

Adonis's pioneering attempts at formulating a modern Arab theory of criticism, which have lasted over four decades, have had a great impact on modern Arab critics, writers and poets.
