English Abstract

The “Multi-lingual and Multi-channel Event Notification Framework” is a system that intends to provide the push-based notification service to different applications independently of their business logic.

Push-based notification service has various benefits over the pull-based approach in the sense that it results in better customer satisfaction.

This is defended by the fact that the notifications are delivered to end-users without having to access the publishers’ websites themselves.

We refer to the applications that will make use of our service as “publishers” of the notifications.

We also refer to end-users as “subscribers” and “consumers” interchangeably.

To better serve end-users, their preferences need to be taken into consideration before delivering the notifications.

Our system, hence, takes care of adapting the notification according to its consumer’s preferred language.

Once the notification has been translated to the end-user preferred language, our duty is then to deliver the notification.

The delivery channel is decided based on the end-user preferred format, namely, SMS, voice message, and email.

Throughout this report, we review the different approaches to existing notification systems and we propose a theoretical approach that we have adopted to develop a notification system under the name of “A Multi-lingual and Multi-channel Event Notification Framework.
