This paper which is entitled "The Symbolism of the Woman in Rushdi Al- Amel's Poetry" starts with a brief introduction followed by an explanation of the concept of "symbolism" which is regarded as a highly effective technique.

Then, the paper concentrates on the symbolism of the woman in Al-Amel's poetry since it, i.e.

the symbolism of the woman, represents an important axis in his collections.The woman has occupied a large space in the poems of old and modern poets who have granted her a great deal of attention in their poetry.

This is due to the vital role which the woman plays in inspiring the poet and motivating his imagination and sophisticated invention.

This aspiration makes the poet subconsciously refer to the woman by using stunning words which attract the receiver's attention and interest.

Thus, Al-Amel has made the woman a symbol for the country, the land, the cities and everything beautiful which can give continuity to life.
