Hefty club membership fees; narrow spaces of public parks and high rates of unemployment have all conduced to that coffee shops become widespread in Arab countries in general and in Egypt in particular.

The research sets forth the social, legal and psychological perspective of coffee shops and answers the main question which is: features of constancy, change and continuation of coffee shops in Egypt in the light of international, regional and local changes.

The study demonstrates a host of impacts associated with the spread of coffee shops phenomena and provides a host of recommendations including enhancing the atmosphere of coffee shops; raising family and human development awareness; curtailing unemployment ; activating the role of security institutions in assuming control over coffee shops and enacting a special regulation to control the spread of coffee shops.
