The research studied the characteristics of the residents of Najaf the city of AlNajaf for the period 1987-2010.

It focused on the development and growth of the city s population during that period.

It also dealt with the disparity of population settlements and the density of that population in the city for the same period.

The most important results which the research high lighted was that the population of the city was increasing rapidly and the average of its growth was tending up due to the natural increase and the economic, social and health changes which the city witnessed.
