Abstract EN

This study seeks to explore the current situation of nomads’ children education in rural areas of Sudan; it aims at enhancing the teaching environment through designing a mobile class room with its appropriate necessities that suits the nomads’ life style.

It also aims at ascertain the role of the industrial designer and his abilities to generate different design solutions and develop scientifically tailored guidelines and specifications for a model nomads’ mobile class rooms.

The researcher has visited several localities in North Kordufan State, in which different problems that preclude nomads’ children education has been observed, described and listed.

Different samples of class rooms and its contents such as chairs, tables, and other means has been studied carefully.

According to the nature of the study as a design oriented research, the gathered data was analyzed and carefully organized in a way that enables developing different solutions to the emerged design problems related to both students needs and class room necessities and specifications.

Eventually,Research results and recommendations are expected to lead to better understanding and more effective and practical design solutions to the nomads educational problems related to class rooms.

The results show clear problems in the current classrooms design of nomadic schools, highlighted by the failure of traditional materials and processes to provide appropriate solutions in accordance with the modern industrial design principles which emphasizes the integration of aesthetics, function and suitability for human use when designing products.

Based on these findings the researcher developed a design concept for a model mobile class room that satisfies many of the needs revealed by the results of the study.
