الدور العربي و الإفريقي في تسوية الصراع في دارفور (2003-2013)‎

Abstract EN

This study examines the regional role of both African and Arab States in resolving the ongoing armed conflict in Darfur between the Sudanese government and tribal militia in the region which took place since 2003.

The significance of analyzing the role of such regional actors stems from the fact that the internal Darfur conflict has been internationalized and that some Sudanese political leaders are accused of Genocide and war crimes.

Applying the descriptive and comparative methods, the study concludes that despite the competition and disparity in the role of the Africans and the Arabs as regional Actors and the keenness of both to maintain the security of the Sudanese regime at the expense of humanitarian crisis in Darfur; there is potentiality for active Afro-Arab role in contributing to the process of peace agreements in Darfur based on institutions.

Such a role would enable both the Arab League (AL), and the African Union (AU) to act equally as United Nation (UN) and become one of the essential Actor in resolving Humanitarian and political crises in the Arab world as well as the African continent.
