Abstract EN

The current study investigates the efficacy of group counseling based on the Children Of Divorce Intervention Program |CODIP| on improving adolescents’ mental health.

This experimental study used a pre-post equivalent group randomized experiment design.

The experimental (n = 15) and control groups (n = 15) were recruited from a sample of female adolescents from families of divorce who were students in a public school in the governorate of Zarqa in Jordan.

The comparison group was matched in pre-tests based on mental health measurement: self-concept, anxiety, depression, and beliefs about parental divorce.

Results showed significant pretest to posttest differences between the experimental and control groups on all study scales except self-concept, and that the treatment group compared to control group, was significantly more likely to have lower levels of anxiety, depression, and negative beliefs about parental divorce.

Moreover, results of pretest to posttest differences for the experimental group on the study scales indicated that the treatment group was improved significantly in all study’s scales.

Results of posttest to follow-up differences for the experimental group on the study scales indicated that while grades on self-concept scale improved but not significantly, and significantly on depression scale, grades on anxiety and negative beliefs about parental divorce scales were regressed to become higher, but the differences were only significant on anxiety scale.
