Abstract EN

Freedom of the press is considered one of the important principles that governs journalistic work.

This principle is not absolute, since there are limits that control it, all those working in journalism should respect these limits and no one can ignore or disregard them.

This means that there are limits and boundaries concerning number of professional duties that a journalist follow.

when a journalist violates any of them, he is legally responsible.

This responsibility comes on three: -criminal responsibility.

- civil responsibility.

-disciplinary responsibility.

If it is up to the Law to decide criminal or civil responsibility according to its member' expertise, its laws and guarantees.

The disciplinary Responsibility is decided by a disciplinary board formed by the journalist’s union.

This board investigates complaints formed against journalists and decides the right punishment within the right procedures.

A board can punish a journalist in four ways: notification notice, warning, banned from practicing journalism for A specific period of time or by crossing out the journalist’s name from the registered list.

In this paper we try to looking this disciplinary punishment mostly how coherent and sufficient they are to ensure that journalist carry out their duties by the limits.
