Abstract EN

The present study aims to identify the cultural and gender differences (Kuwaiti and Egyptian) on the five factors of personality, as well as the interaction of both genders and cultures on each of the five factors.

The study sample consisted of two groups: (2109) Kuwaitis, (900) males and (1209) female students at Kuwait University.

The Egyptian samples consisted of (1806) individuals (888) male and (918) female students from Tanta University.

This study used the Arabic version of NEO-PI-R.

The results of the study reveal significant cultural differences where the Egyptians obtained a higher score than Kuwaitis on neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness.

Moreover, the results reveal significant gender differences in which Kuwaiti males obtained a higher score than females on extraversion and conscientiousness, while females obtained higher scores than males in neuroticism and openness.

Additionally, there were significant gender differences in the Egyptian sample where females obtained higher scores than males on neuroticism and agreeableness.

Furthermore, the results demonstrate an interaction between both genders and cultures on neuroticism, extraversion and agreeableness.
