Abstract EN

This study aims to reveal the most important difficulties facing decision makers in the Ministry of Education in the State of Kuwait, in case of adopting the trend sponsering towards the empowerment of school principals.

The study sample represented all leaders in the educational areas including general managers, directors, monitors, heads of departments, and the first mentors.

Two research questions were investigated applying the descriptive analytical methodology.

In that respect, a researcher-developed questionnaire was applied including the following variables : the educational area, leadership position, qualification, and years of service in current position.

It contained twenty five items distributed at the four domains : the power and systems of work, preparation and training, the use of power and decision-making, and acceptance of empowerment and trust in school principals.

The researcher concluded with a number of recommendations as follows: The empowerment of school principals is essential to develop their performance which requires a reconsideration of their authorities.

The application of school principals empowerment requires intensive training programs which include human relations, organizational behavior, and decision-making skills.

There is a need to establish a positive administrative environment to enhance the relationship between the school administration, the educational area, and the Ministry.

For the success of school principals empowerment, they must be trusted not only as work administrative, but also as leaders.

This has been confirmed by 75 % of Che sample as an essential factor to empowerment.
