Abstract EN

The study aims at investigating the level of academic intrinsic and extrinsic motivation amongst class teacher students at Faculty of Educational Sciences / UNRWA.

The Vallerand, Pelletier, Blais, Briere, Senecal and Vallieres, (1992) Academic Motivation Scale-Measure of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation was administered to a sample of (146) male and female students.

Results of the study show that students' level of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is moderate and students' level of motivation in general is moderate as well Results of the study also show no statistically significant differences in students' level of intrinsic and extrinsic academic motivation and motivation in general attributed to the variables of the students' gender, accumulative grade in the faculty, year of study at the faculty, and the General Secondary Education Certificate (GSEC) with the exception of the differences in the intrinsic motivation on the variable of the students' accumulative grade in (GSEC) in favour of students who scored 90 % and more.

In light of the aforementioned results, the study proposed a number of recommendations.
