Abstract EN

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the modern evaluation strategies on the performance of the female teachers in the primary schools and on the development of the high level thinking skills among the students of these teachers.

To achieve this goal, the researchers designed a training program which includes the modern evaluation strategies and developed an assessment tool to measure the teacher’s teaching skills in the classroom.

The study sample, which was selected on a random basis, consisted of 53 teachers divided in two groups : an experimental group of 28 teachers and a control group of 25 teachers.

The teachers in the experimental group were subjected to the designed training program.

Later, eight third-grade classes were selected (n = 265 students).

The eight classes were divided in two groups : four classes constituted the experimental group as they were taught by the trained teachers.

The other four classes constituted the control group as they were taught by the untrained teachers.

The selection of the groups was random.

An exam was built to measure the high level thinking skills which was applied to the experimental group.

The results of the study revealed that the teachers in the experimental group have performed better than those in the control group.

Moreover, the results revealed that the students who were taught by the trained teachers have more developed higher thinking skills than those in the control group.

The researchers recommend that the teachers in the primary schools should be trained to use the modern evaluation strategies instead of the traditional methods of education process.
