Abstract EN

The present study aims at exploring differences between blind children with a high rate of stressful life events, self-efficacy, and social support and blind children with a low rate of the same with regard to the feeling of loneliness.

The study also aims at studying the role that self-effectiveness and social support can play in the relationship between blind children’s stressful life events and their feeling of loneliness as well as predicting the feeling of loneliness through stressful life events and self- effectiveness.

Results of the study showed that -There are statistically significant differences between the means of blind students with high and low levels of self-effectiveness on the scale of loneliness (Sub-scores and total score) with the former less than the latter.

-There are statistically significant differences between the means of blind students with high and low levels of social support where it was found that students who receive more support from family and friends presented lower means on the scale of loneliness than students who received less support.

-There are statistically significant differences between the means of blind students with high and low levels of stressful life events where it was found that student with more stressful life events presented higher means on the scale of loneliness than students with less stressful life events.

-A significant indirect role of self- effectiveness and social support in the relationship between perceived stressful life events and feeling lonely.

-Feeling of loneliness, the blind children could be predicted from their stressful life events, self- effectiveness, and social support.
