Abstract EN

This research aims at identifying the impact of fabricated wood in the field of interior design.

It also aims to distinguish the new types of fabricated wood and utilize its advantages in developing both fields of interior design and furniture making.

The study was conducted on a group of interior design companies and wooden furniture manufactures in Amman-Jordan.

The study sample constituted a number of interior designers and technicians who work at selected companies.

Questionnaires were used to collect data from the study sample, and later analyzed with statistical software (SPSS) to analyze the data, along with the observation tool.

According to the results gained through surveying designers and technicians in both interior design and furniture-making companies, fabricated woods has a distinctive impact in the development of the field of interior design.

Based on the study results, the researcher designed and built a number of furniture pieces out of fabricated wood boards through contemporary wood processes in order to stress its impact in the development of the field of interior design and furniture–making aesthetically, practically and economically.

Results which are generated out of the abovementioned designs, have also shown that fabricated wood has an important role in the making of different types of furniture.

This role is revealed by its standardized measurements and ease of assembly, shipping and storage which in turn show aesthetic and utilitarian values In addition to the cost of the end product.
