Abstract EN

Methods of assertion and their semantic Effect on Jammaa,s Poetry This study considers the methods of assertion in the sentence structure of Jammaa,s poems and their semantic effect.

One of the important reasons behind choosing this topic is that the study of grammar should be liberated from the theoretical restrictions and shifted to the fields of applied sciences.

This can be accomplished through studying literary texts so as to have insights on the semantic aspect achieved in terms of the grammatical system of Arabic.

This study aims at studying the semantic effect resulting from the occurrence of assertion devices in the system of sentence structure.

The method of this study is descriptive, inductive and analytic.

This method enabled the researchers to come out with the following results: 1) The assertion devices of verbal sentences contained the device “qad” (قد (with the highest frequency occurring 31 times: then comes the future modals “seen / sawfa / lan” meaning will/ be going to / won’t which occurred 29 times: next follows assertion by nouns happening 8 times: finally comes the assertion by using the expression “laqad” (لقد ( occurring 7 times.

2) Some of the assertion devices have parsing effect beside their assertion role.

3) The meaning of sentences varied after inserting the assertion devices, indicating that the poet had his expressive devices that conveyed hid meaning.
