Abstract EN

The Study sought to identify the economic social problems faced by the physically handicapped from the 17th of February Revolution.

Sample of the study consisted of (196) physically disabled individuals upper and lower amputauion, and paralysis.

The study used the social survey approach for the sampled individuals.

Results of the study indicated that the most personal problems lower and upper amputation individuals face on the social level is difficulty to use public transportation and to use public facilities.

They rely on others to fulfill their daily needs as they were unable to use their remaining abilities.

Results of the study indicated that amputated and paralyzed individuals have problems in their relationships as they lack the appropriate social programs assisting them to adapt with their new situation and to return to society.

Also the revolution disabled individuals' families lack the appropriate counseling programs assisting them in dealing with the handicapped in the family.

On the economic level, amputated individuals and paralyzed face many problems in their work as a result of lack of professional rehabilitation programs, lack of suitable infrastructure helping them go to their work,amputated individuals and paralyzed suffer from high treatment and financial expenses as the aiding devices are very expensive and the insurance companies ensuring their right to get treatment is still absent on Libya,also amputated individuals and paralyzed families suffer from economic burdens resulting from low income and lack of regulations and laws ensuring the financial compensation to provide them with a decent life.
