Abstract EN

This study aims to explain the proper means for overcoming the obstacles on the basis of Islamic Shari’a and economic justifications.

In this respect, the study stresses on specialized institutional (waqf) and collective management of (waqf) based on the model utilized in modern financial institutions.

This would be the optimal means for reviving Islamic (waqf) so that it restores its significant role in accomplishing social solidarity and economic development as was the case in early Islamic history.

This new (waqf) system would help to develop methods of investment of (waqf) funds, and consolidate the financial trust in (waqf) supervisors.

It would also expand the areas in which (waqf) funds may be invested including education, and health care.

For example, (waqf) in education would include investing in primary, secondary, and university education, offering scholarships, building colleges, institutes and centers for the Holy Quran and providing special care for talented students.

The study concludes with some recommendations aimed at enhancing the status of specialized institutional (waqf) and reviving the Islamic (waqf) system which would contribute significantly in achieving social solidarity and economic development.
