Abstract EN

This research intends to present an appraisal of the effectiveness of Co-operative Learning Strategy in the development of knowledge acquisition, the ability to solve geometrical problems and the tendency of Primary School students towards Mathematics at Ibb Governorate.

The research sample includes 90 students of Class 8th in Primary School, distributed into two equal groups: Experimental group and Standard group.

The methods of evaluation applied in this study include Knowledge Acquisition Test, the Ability to Solve Geometrical Problems Test and the Tendency towards Mathematics Test.

Besides, T-Test has been used on two independent samples for finding out the statistical significance of differences between the average marks of students in the two sample groups (the Experimental and the Standard) in the dimensional measurement of each and every research instrument.

The results, by all measures, show that there are statistically signifying differences in the interest of students in the experimental group.

This indicates that the used Co-operative Learning Strategy has an effect on the improvement of knowledge acquisition and on the development of students’ ability to solve geometrical problems and their tendency towards Mathematics.

This has been confirmed by calculating the D-Value of this effect, which reaches (5.63 – 6.12 – 1.97), respectively.

The study shows also the effectiveness of Co-operative Learning Strategy used for the same measures by using Black’s ratio of average acquirement, which reaches (1.26 – 3.11 – 0.997) respectively.

These ratios indicate that the effectiveness of the strategy is very high and has reached the required level.

The study further recommends the necessity and value of applying such strategies in the teaching of Mathematics.
