Abstract EN

The study is included identification and occurence of aquatic predatory insects during March 2014 to February 2015 from six locations (Al-Swaib, Al-Hammar marsh, Garmat-Ali, Al-Tnuma, Al-Siba and Abu – Alkkhaseeb).

Eight species belong to four orders are identification.

Four species belong to the order Coleoptera (Family : Dytiscidae), there are Agabus guttatus Payk, Cybister tripuncututus Oliv., Eretes sticticus Cast., Lacophilus hyaline Deg.

Three species belong to order Odonata (Nymphs) there are Ischnura evansi Morton., Anax parthenope (Selys), Crocothenis erythraea (Brulle).

One species Anisops varia Fieber which belongs to order Hemiptera.

There were four species recorded for the first time in Iraq there are A.

parthenope, C.

erythraea and A.

varia.

Aquatic predatory insects are varied in occurrence, the Nymphs of order Odonata having the highest occurrence and present in all study regions.

Meanwhile, the larvae of A.

varia appears only in Garmat-Ali region.
