Abstract EN

Objective: This study aims to compare between two diagnostic tests of Helicobacter pylori infection, one of them is invasive and the other is non-invasive.

and then to choose the appropriate and the best method for diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori in out-patients whom they approved that they have peptic ulcer by endoscopy in Aleppo hospital.

Materials and Methods: The study included 50 adult patients with age range between 18-80 years, 36 male &14 female.

Each patient was subjected to bacterial culture test by taking biopsy from gastric antrum during endoscopy and then subjected to Stool antigen test (HPSAg) by taking stool specimen from same patient after endoscopy.

Results: The similarity between the results of both tests was 62% and the difference between them was 38%.

It was found that there was no significant statistic correlation between bacterial culture and stool antigen test (P=0.09).

Conclusion: We must apply both tests for detection of the role of Helicobacter pylori in peptic ulcer and don’t depend on only one test.
