This research presents a trial to define Hausa poetry with the review of the emergence of this poetry and the stages of writing it and its transmission of oral poetry to written poetry.

The researcher will focus on the lyric poetry as a kind of poetry.

she addresses its beginning, types, and chanting bands, in addition to mentioning some of the instruments that are used during that chanting.

Among the most important findings of the researcher regarding to lyric poetry, it is one of the traditional literature field; i.e.

the oral literature.

Its themes comes from the public life to attract people and the instill the message in them, in addition to preserve the Hausa heritage to protect the identity of Hausa people that distinguishes them than other.
