Abstract EN

Due to the growing importance of population data and use in planning and policy making، coupled with the lack of studies dealing with data evaluation in Saudi Arabia، the study aimed to evaluate agesex data of population censuses of 1974، 1992، 2004 and 2010.

The study utilized some statistical، demographic and graphical methods such as sex ratio، ageratio، U.

Age-Sex Accuracy Index.

Based on the UN Age-Sex Acuracy index، it was found that the accuracy of some population censuses has not reached a desirable level yet.

But there has been noticeable improvement from one census to antother.

However، the values of UN Acuracy Index have shown variantion from one administrative area to the other، with noticeable high values (i.e.، low accuracy) in some areas، specifically Tabuk، Baha، and Najran، which might be explained by the flows of internal migration.

It was recommended to conduct post- enumeration surveys in order to improve data quality and single age-sex data should be published and disseminated on Administrative and governorates in order to be able to evaluate population data and hence improve its accuracy، in addition to encouraging studies that evaluate population data and the adoption of "population register" in the Kingdom
