Abstract EN

The current study aims at exploring the state of translation competencies amongst private translators in Kuwait.

The study was paved with a theoretical background reflecting main relevant concepts and models.

The quantitative approach was adopted to achieve the study objectives, using a survey designed according to the European Master’s in Translation dimensions, and distributed among a sample 33 translators.

The findings showed that: (a) the sample translators’ perceptions of translation competence were highly positive; while (b) their perceptions of the current state of these competencies among translators is Kuwait were negative.

The study concluded with some relevant recommendation, the most important of which is that translation industry should undergo translation professionalism premises where only those who hold a professional license can practice translation business.
