Abstract EN

The political geographers interest by the election because of its political ,social and economic significance.

Its successful and its accomplishment professionally ,impartially and transparency will create significant convictions of the people by the political system .the geographic of elections is one of applied branch of Geo-political because the election process have many aspects of geography starting from the study of the distribution to the polling centers and polling stations ,and this is what is called the spatial organization of the elections ,which is the subject of the present research .

The successful of this system depends on the available information and data about population size, distribution and transportation methods as well as everything affects the movement of people on election day.

It has been shown through research that the distribution of polling stations has been influenced by the availability of service centers such as schools ,which used to convert them to the polling stations and its concentration in the cities or near and this make the polling stations are concentrated in these areas , to conform which population densities, but some remote rural areas, especially south of Abasia city ,north of Kufa and the north of AL- HURRIA city which revealed the true density by using remote sensing techniques and techniques (GIS), which revealed the true prevalence of the population in the study area (KUFA CITY), in spite of the increase in the number of polling stations in the election of 2009, compared to elections in 2005, but the commission did not take in to account the population prevalence , just in a limited way in the city of Abbasia .

This makes the electoral commission to use the geographers in the process of spatial organization to achieve the greatest possible equality in the distribution of polling stations and work to facilitate the process of voter access to poling stations to increase the percentage of turnout and prevents the interference of the political blocs in the transfer of voters from remote areas to polling stations, and this requires the provision of puplic transport modes under the supervision of election commission and must also coduct a comprehensive accurate census, for knowledge of the age groups falling under the voting age and depending on the environment and sex because the reliance on data in the ministry of commerce accompanied by defect and in accuracies in information.
